NOTICE FOR ELECTION
The City of West Branch’s terms for Mayor and three Council Members at Large seats will be up for election at the November 5, 2024 general election. Residents wishing to run for City Office must file a nominating petition, an affidavit of identity and receipt of filing, and a written consent to nomination. A statement of organization must also be submitted to the Ogemaw County clerk’s office. Those forms can be picked up from the clerk at City Hall, 121 N. Fourth St. The completed nominating petition along with the other forms must be filed by Tuesday, July 23, 2024 between the hours of 8:00 am and 4:30pm. The nominating petitions must have a minimum of 15 approved signatures and a maximum of 50 approved signatures of registered electors of the City. City Mayor is for a 2 year term and City Council is for a four year term. Both positions take office on January 1 and run through December 31st. The Mayor and City Council members receive a payment of $50 per meeting with the Mayor receiving and additional $250 per year. City Council regular meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Mondays of every month. Additional special meetings or work session may be added as needed.
