NOTICE FOR BIDS FOR CONCRETE SIDEWALK

Request for Proposal for Sidewalk Installation

The City of West Branch is requesting sealed bids from contractors to provide concrete sidewalk services. Services will include the installation of a concrete sidewalk and ADA ramps at all driveway crossings.

Proposals are due by Wednesday, August 1, 2024 at 12 pm and will be opened immediately after in the Council Chambers of the West Branch City Hall.  Proposals should be clearly marked as “sidewalk” and can be delivered or mailed to West Branch City Hall, 121 N. Fourth St., West Branch, MI 48661.  The awarding of the project is scheduled to take place at the City Council meeting scheduled for Monday, August 5th at 6:00 pm in the Council Chambers at City Hall.

I.                    SCOPE OF SERVICES

  1. Install concrete sidewalk from the North side of Ace Hardware to the South side of the Northland Area Credit Union to connect the end of the City’s sidewalk to the start of West Branch Townships sidewalk.
    • Saw cut and installation of 7 ADA approved ramps with marker plates at all driveway entrances.
    • Excavate, prep, and install approximately 795 lineal feet of 5’ wide sidewalk at 4” Concrete to be a minimum of 4,000PSI with reinforcement wire or fiber mesh. Surface to be broom finish.
    • Provide and install black dirt as needed for restoration work. Seeding to be done by the City. 
    • Work with City and existing businesses if sprinkler lines are found to be located in the sidewalk path and needs to be relocated.
    • Sidewalk project can be started after the bid is awarded on August 5, 2024 and must be completed by the end of the year. If this this schedule cannot be met, please include a schedule of when the project could be done.
  2. RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT                                                                                                                                                                 The City reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to reject any/or all proposals, to waive any irregularities and technical defects contained therein, to award the contract in its entirety, in part or not at all and/or to determine which proposal is the lowest and/or best to enter into a Contract, as it may deem to be in the best interest of the City of West Branch.

III.                INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS - CERTIFICATE OF INSURANCE

The contractor shall furnish certificates of insurance in the following accounts:

  • Comprehensive General Liability including premises/operations, contractual independent contractors, broad form property damage and personal injury. Limits of liability shall be combined bodily injury and property
  • Auto liability, including owned, non-owned and hired – limits of liability shall be combined bodily injury and property damage: $1,000,000. Each occurrence: $1,000,000 Aggregate.
  • Excess Liability – Umbrella Form: $1,000,000
  • Workers’ Compensation Insurance – Limit of liability shall be the statutory limits. State whether the sole proprietor and/or partners have elected to be included.
  • The contractor shall have a certificate issued showing the City of West Branch as an additional named insured for the duration of the
  • Certificates shall be filed with the West Branch City Treasurer before work is started.
